This is a self-hosted, temporary file-upload system written in Go, a private, alternative to services like WeTransfer. It provides a Vue 3 web interface and a command-line interface, for users to quickly transfer files without relying on third-party cloud vendors. The architecture is built to handle transient storage rather than permanent file hosting. Under the hood, Plik decouples the metadata management from the actual storage backend. It supports metadata engines like SQLite, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, and storing raw payload data on local disk storage, Amazon S3, OpenStack Swift, or Google Cloud Storage.

Public file-sharing platforms expose organizations to compliance risks, unmonitored data retention, third-party data mining, and restrictive file size limits. There is no native WebDAV support or local desktop file-sync daemon available to keep continuous directory trees in sync across devices.

It supports end-to-end Age encryption, non-technical users relying solely on the web interface must be instructed on how password protection and encryption keys operate to avoid user error.  

Streaming and direct proxy options require network configuration, reverse proxy headers, and WebSocket handling to function correctly behind corporate firewalls or NAT environments.
